Responsible Business Alliance – Journey of a Worker

ProjectBRIEF The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) is the world’s largest industry coalition dedicated to corporate social responsibility in global supply chains. Members include famous brands like Dell Inc, Facebook, Microsoft and Walmart. All whom have responded to customer-led demand for increasing transparency of supply-chains. The RBA has successfully implemented a number of programs to help migrant worker rights in Malaysia but very few of their 150 global members knew about these particular programs and success stories. RBA came to us to help them capture these stories and use them to encourage signup of these programs to their global members. SOLUTION We worked closely with The RBA to develop the concept, structure and story for a short documentary capturing the stories of foreign workers, their ethical challenges in getting recruited into the country and the solutions and possibilities in creating a more ethical working environment. RBA were clear that they wanted the story to be humanised and told from the worker point of view rather than a top-down management perspective. Storyfrontier took on the challenge, filming in 3 factories around Malaysia, interviewing 9 workers and 9 managers.
